Dear Cosima, how did you come up with the topic of stylish home wear?

I always enjoy traveling, but I am and have always enjoyed being at home. Even as a child I learned in our family – arriving home means “out of the travel dust – into the fine and cozy house suit”. Dresses, jumpsuits or robes, especially in an elegant, cozy style, make a stay at home something special. It invites you to linger – not to always be on the go. It underlines the cozy, comfortable feeling of being at home. When you leave the house, you dress very differently, always according to the appointment or occasion. It could be a focused business meeting, a relaxed sports date, a glittering party, dinner with friends or much more… For the time at home, there should now also be a special outfit that elegantly stands up to the casual “loungewear look” that has become fashionable:
MyMorgenrock – dressed for home.

During the design phase, the first thing that was important to me was the cut, which shows the appearance at home in an elegant silhouette. Secondly, of course, the selected materials that caress the skin and create a feeling of body comfort. The MyMorgenrock collection aims to make you feel at home in elegant style and always look presentable. But even on a dog walk, for shopping at the weekly market or in the evening for a dinner party…. the MyMorgenrock collection is versatile!

How did you go from traditional brand and marketing consulting to your own fashion label?

I have always enjoyed having self-designed clothing made. In addition, over the last 20 years, as a brand and marketing consultant for medical practices, I have designed individual practice outfits for the team of doctors and nurses on behalf of some of my clients. And beyond that… I’ve always had a soft spot for fabrics. I would like to tell you a little anecdote about this:

As a child, I often visited my grandparents’ attic, where things had been piling up for, in fact, 100 years. It was like a huge, oversized treasure chest for me. One day I found a finely folded silk fabric there. My grandmother explained to me that these were once silk curtains that used to hang in my great-grandmother’s living room. I was allowed to take these silk curtains with me and thought I would have something made from them… Today I am 50 years old. This fabric moved with me, neatly folded, into my first apartment after graduating from high school. I have moved four more times since then. This silk fabric has always been neatly folded and sorted into my ideas cupboard in my new home. To this day, I’ve never had anything made from it because I’ve always kept it for a very special piece. But the fabric is in perfect condition, without holes or wear.

Have you always had a keen interest in fashion?

Not really. However, my perception and appreciation of fashion and clothing changed fundamentally some time ago. The turning point came when I was rummaging through my mother’s archive closet. The closet is filled with fashions that she wore on special occasions and kept forever. When I opened the closet a few months ago, stories of special moments and events in my mother’s life came to mind. This closet is filled with so much more than just fabrics and colors. It is filled with emotions that are just as strong as the smell of old books, the melody of old music or the sight of faded photos. That was yet another reason for me to decide to design and produce my own fashion. Clothing can generally protect you from external influences and give you a cozy, secure feeling. But fashion can also express the individual, boost self-confidence and actually give you mental strength.

Why did you choose fashion that is specifically worn at home?

Home is a special place. Here you are mostly unobserved by the public, can find peace and quiet, pamper yourself and your family and recharge your batteries. In my opinion, being at home and spending time at home is particularly important for doing something good for your soul and your health. Clothing at home also contributes to this. Changing your outfit when you arrive home can be the first step towards relaxation. Your skin feels soft, high-quality materials and transmits feelings of happiness to your brain. What’s more, nothing pinches, nothing fits tightly – you feel liberated. Nevertheless – and this is the special thing I want to achieve with MyMorgenrock – style, elegance and extra class are not to be discarded at home. Everyone should be worthy of being particularly well dressed at all times. For me, that means designing cuts that cut a flattering figure and choosing the finest materials that are high-quality, skin-flattering and long-lasting. Fantastic home wear that always makes you feel special.

Cosima Holthausen founded the MyMorgenrock – dressed for Home label in 2024. Despite cozy homewear, she wants to bring traditional style and elegance back into the home. After studying communication design in Hamburg, Cosima Holthausen spent 20 years working as a design and marketing expert for doctors and dentists on the topic of “the practice as a brand”. Regardless of printed advertising materials and digital appearances, this also included the corporate interior and the corporate outfit. Cosima Holthausen had already designed practice clothing for some of the clients at the time. After 20 years, she decided to take a new career path.
